Abstract

The purpose of this study was to evaluate and assess the suitability of land to plant rubber, palm oil and rice in tidal marsh Telang Delta II, District Cape Lago, Banyuasin regency, South Sumatra. Soil analysis performed at the Laboratory of Physics and Soil Conservation and Chemical Laboratory, Department of Biology and Soil Fertility Soil Faculty of Agriculture, University of Srivijaya, the implementation of research started from August 2011 until January 2012. This study uses a survey on the level of detail, with the research area of 6 ha. Each of 2 ha of rubber, 2 ha of oil palm plantations and 2 ha of rice plants. Determination of the point observations were made with a grid system or line, the distance between the observation point is 50 mx 100 m, where 2 point represents 1 ha, bringing the total number of observation points as much as 12 points of observation, after which soil samples dikomposit to 6 samples. Ground observations in the field through the drilling of land, made up to a depth of 120 cm, soil samples taken for laboratory analysis in the layer 0-30 cm of each sample. The actual land suitability for rubber plants is S3-m (less in accordance with the limiting factor rooting conditions (soil drainage and the effective depth) as well as the availability of nutrients N and P) area of 2 ha. For the actual land suitability of oil palm plantations, sites classified as S3-rf (less in accordance with the limiting factor rooting conditions (soil drainage and the effective depth) and soil pH) an area of 2 ha. As for the rice plant belonging to the S3-fn (less in accordance with the limiting factor of nutrient retention). Potential land suitability for rubber plants is S2-r, land improvements with the creation of drainage channels and the provision of urea and SP36. For oil palm plants, namely S2-r, land improvements with the creation of drainage channels and the addition of dolomite. And SI for the rice plant, with the addition of dolomite land improvements and the addition of SP36 and KC1.
