Abstract

Nationally, paddy fields have an important role in producing food, especially rice. In its development, the area of paddy fields in Indonesia is increasing, one of the reasons is the conversion (function conversion) of swampy swamplands into paddy fields. Increasing land conversion will have an impact on increasing paddy fields, this is because most of the lebak swamp land is used for paddy fields. The development of rice fields which is increasing requires a lot of land, with the narrowness of land in the yard, the need for land for rice fields will utilize lebak swamp land. This study aims to examine the factors that influence the conversion of lebak swamp land to paddy fields, examine the decision-making stages of rice farmers converting lebak swamp land to paddy fields. The basic method used is a quantitative approach with survey techniques. The determination of the research location was carried out purposively in the Village of Pelabuhan Dalam, Pemulutan District. Sampling using simple random sampling method as many as 30 respondents. The data analysis method used is the Likerd Scale and Multiple Linear Regression. The research results show that (1). The decision of rice farmers to convert lebak swamp land into paddy fields in Pelabuhan Dalam Village, Pemulutan District, is included in the very appropriate criteria with an average score of 7.49. This means that the rice farmer's decision to convert lebak swampland into paddy fields in Pelabuhan Dalam Village, Pemulutan District, is very appropriate based on 5 indicators of the decision-making stage, namely the stage of knowledge, persuasion, decision, implementation, and confirmation. (2). Based on multiple linear regression analysis, the factors that significantly influence the conversion of lebak swamp land into paddy fields in Pelabuhan Dalam Village, Pemulutan District are the age variable, income variable and land area variable while the education variable has no significant effect at ɑ = 0.10 on the decision of rice farmers to convert paddy fields into freshwater fish farming ponds.
