Abstract
Rosella contains flavonoid, there are gossypetin and anlhocyanins. Flavonoids polyphenolic that have the ability to denaturatedprotein and also afat solvent.The purpose of this study to assurne that xylitol antibacteria effects o n Streptococcus mutans. The method of this research is laboralory experimenlal. This research uses Streptococcus mutans c serotipe as the sample, it is divided into seven group which contains aquades and ampicilin as the control and extract metanol of Rosella 30%, 40%, 50%, 60%, and 70% as the treatmenl group. The examination used One Way A NOVA parametric statislic and Pos t Hoc Tes t (p <0,05). The r e suit s of this study showed that exlracl metanol of Rosella has an bacleria effecl by organizing inhibilory zone at concentration 30% with 12,4000±0,8165 and the greatest inhibitory power contained in exlract metanol of Rosella at concentration 70% with inhibition zone 20.200 ± 0.8165. There is a differenl singinificant in every concentration of extract metanol of Rosella.The conclusions that, extract metanol of Rosella has antibacterias ejfect on Streptococcus mutans. Extract metanol of Rosella contains flavonoids that will damage the bacterial cell wali due to its lipophilic and protein coagulator.
