Abstract
BackgroundExcessive gingival display on smile is a situation that is less aesthetically according to s om e people. One of the causes of the condition are Altered Passive Eruption (APE), which is a failure of passive eruption of teeth. The term describes the variation of tooth morphology with excessive gingival display\ maxillary anterior teeth were short, and that is the coronal gingival margin of cementoenamel-junction. APE is divided into two types: type 1 and 2 and are further divided into subtypes A and B. Objective: This study aimed to determine the prevalence incidence by type and subtype APE. Methods: This study used a descriptive method survey, a non-experimental study that aims to determine the prevalence of APE in students aged 18 years. Results: This study showed that students who are most experienced APE namely type 2 subtypes A with the percentage of 29.62%. Conclusion: There is a prevalence of APE amounted to 11.34% in a Collage Student of Dentistry.
