Abstract

PT Pertamina Hulu Rokan Field Prabumulih is one of the oil and gas producing companies. The company has a stockpile tank as a storage place for crude oil to be distributed to KM Plaju so that it produces oil that can be used everyday. Crude oil has high flammability and flash point values so this can be the cause of large fires and explosions at PT Pertamina Hulu Rokan Field Prabumulih. Therefore it is necessary to conduct an assessment of the risk as well as the loss caused by fire and explosion. This study is a qualitative study with a descriptive approach using the Dow's Fire and Explosion Index method to calculate the risk of fire and explosion in Pertamina Prabumulih. The result showed that the risk level of fire and explosion in this process unit isin heavy category with the value of Fire and Explosion Index is 128. The exposure radius if there is fire and explosion is 32.77 meters, exposure areas 3371,96 m², value of the exposure area is Rp271.822.126.446, and damage factor value is 0,67. The value of base maximum probable property damage is Rp182.120.824.719 and value of loss control credit factor is 0,56. The actual maximum probable property damage value is Rp101.987.661.842,7. The maximum probable days outage is about 47 days and the value of business interruption is Rp378.534.252.323. Prevention and control of fire and explosion hazards can be improved, by adding leak detectors and automatic fire protection systems.
