Abstract

Anemia in pregnancy is a health problem that occurs in developing countries and contributes to high morbidity rates in pregnant women. To overcome the problem of anemia in pregnant women, the government launched a program of giving bloodadded tablets (TTD). This study aims to determine the relationship between maternal characteristics and consumption of blood-added tablets on the incidence of anemia in pregnant women in the Tanjung Batu Health Center Work Area. This study uses a quantitative analytic study design with a cross sectional study approach. The number of samples was 55 people who were selected through purposive sampling technique. Data analysis using chi square test. The results showed that the majority of pregnant women were anemic (70.9%), were at an age that was not at risk (76.4%), had a high level of education (63.6%), worked as housewives (56.4%). , have a low income level (85.5%), have a parity that is not at risk (83.6%), have a distance of pregnancy that is not at risk (87.3%) and the majority of respondents are in the 2nd and 3rd trimester of pregnancy (38, 2%). The majority of pregnant women did not get blood-added tablets (50.9%). There are 33 respondents (60%) who do not consume iron tablets, 9 respondents (16.4%) who consume incompletely and 13 respondents who consume completely (23.6%). There was a significant relationship between family income (p=0.038, PR=2,043) and consumption of blood-added tablets (p=0.037, PR=1,702) on the incidence of anemia. Meanwhile, there was no significant relationship between maternal age (p=0.734), education (p=0.262), mother's occupation (p=0.227), parity (p=0.710) and gestational distance (p=0.402) to the incidence of anemia.
