Abstract

This study entitled the relationship between running speed and leg muscle strength with the results of the squat style long jump in SMA Negeri 10 Palembang. The independent variables in this study were running speed and leg muscle strength, while the dependent variable in this study was the squat style long jump. The population in this study amounted to 40 people. The data collection technique for measuring speed is by running a 40-meter sprint test, for measuring leg muscle strength by means of the Standing Broad Jump, and for measuring long jumps in the squat style, by means of the long jump in the squat style. Based on the results of the discussion it can be concluded that the three variables have a significant value which is less than 0.05 (significant value <0.05). The multiple correlation (R) between the independent variable and the dependent variable has a significant relationship because Fcount (18.5) ≤ Ftable (37). This means that there is a contribution to the relationship between running speed and leg muscle strength with the results of the long jump squat style in students of SMA Negeri 10 Palembang. The contribution is very strong, so if students have good running speed and leg muscle strength, they will also make a good contribution to the squat style long jump.
