Abstract

Rice is a food crop, one of the most important staple foods, which is grown for nearly a third of the total food in the world. One of the famous rice plant varieties in the world is basmati rice which has quite a lot of varieties. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of vermicompost and compost on soil P availability and P uptake and production of organic basmati rice by floating. This research was conducted in the Field Department of Soils, Faculty of Agriculture, University, Indralaya from September to December 2021. This research was arranged using the Randomized Factorial Group Design (RAKF) method with 10 treatment levels and repeated 6 times with the provision of 3 replications so there were 60 units test. The treatment level in this study was V10 = 10 tons ha-1; V20 = 20 tons ha-1; K10 = 10 tons ha-1; K20 = tons 20 ha-1; V10K 10 = vermicompost 10 tons ha-1 + compost 10 tons ha-1; V10K 20 = vermicompost 10 tons ha-1 + compost 20 tons ha-1; V20K 10 = Vermicompost 20 tons ha-1 + compost 10 tons ha-1; V20K 20 = Vermicompost 20 tons ha-1 + compost 20 tons ha-1 and NPK 200:100:100 kg ha-1. The results of this study showed that the application of V20K 20 = Vermicompost 20 tons ha-1 + Compost 20 tons ha-1 gave better results in soil P availability and the combination of V20K 20, K20, K10 and NPK gave good results in P uptake and more better than those without treatment. NPK 200:100:100 kg ha-1 fertilizer gives better yields than the use of organic fertilizers. However, the combination of V20K 20 = Vermicompost 20 tons ha-1 + compost 10 tons ha-1 was able to increase soil P availability and plant tissue P uptake better than other treatments.
