Abstract

The nutritional status of pregnant women can be influenced by a number of factors such as mother's age, parity, pregnancy distance, occupation, education and family income. The impact of malnutrition problems in pregnant women is anemia, premature childbirth to bleeding. In infants there can be growth failure, BBLR, congenital defects up to death. The purpose of the study was to determine the relationship of characteristics and eating intake to the nutritional status of pregnant women in the work area of the Indralaya Health Center. This type of research is quantitative with a cross-sectional study design. The total sample of 48 respondents of pregnant women with purposive sampling technique. The research instrument is in the form of a characteristic questionnaire and food recall 2x24 hours. Data analysis is univariate and bivariate. The results of the univariate analysis found that there were still pregnant women experiencing Chronic Energy Disease (CED) with a LILA ≤ of 23.5 cm by 18.8% and there were still pregnant women with less food intake, namely 47.9%. The results of a bivariate analysis with the Chi-Square test showed that family income (p=0.023, PR=8.000) and eating intake (p=0.009, PR= 8.696) had a significant relationship with the nutritional status of pregnant women. Meanwhile, the mother's age (p = 1,000), parity (p = 1,000), pregnancy distance (p = 0.343), occupation (p = 0.687) and education (p = 1,000) have no relationship with the nutritional status of pregnant women in the work area of the Indralaya Health Center. The advice given is that it is hoped that pregnant women who experience Chronic Energy Disease (CED) will increase their eating intake by paying attention to nutritional needs during pregnancy and diligently consuming the PMT given.
