Abstract

Stunting is one of the nutritional problems in toddlers in Indonesia that can cause a decrease in the quality of human resources. Stunting can be caused by various factors, one of which is the lack of maternal knowledge which affects the way the mother's parenting is done to the child. Poor maternal parenting can cause children to experience infectious diseases, and incomplete immunization status so that children are at risk of stunting. This study aims to determine the relationship between maternal parenting and stunting in children aged 24-59 months in the Tanjung Raja Health Center work area during the Covid-19 pandemic. This study aims to determine the relationship between maternal parenting and stunting in children aged 24-59 months in the Tanjung Raja Health Center work area during the Covid-19 pandemic. This study used a cross-sectional study design with sampling techniques using Purposive Sampling of 42 respondents. The data were analyzed univariately (Frequency distribution), bivariate (Chi-Square Test) and multivariate (Multiple logistic regression analysis of prediction models). Based on the results of the bivariate test, it is known that there is a relationship between maternal parenting (p-value = 0.031), maternal nutrition knowledge (p-value = 0.043), and a history of infectious diseases (p-value = 0.038) to the incidence of stunting. Meanwhile, the immunization status variable (p-value = 0.257) has no relationship with the incidence of stunting. In the results of the multivariate test, it is known that the history of infectious diseases is the most dominant variable with a p-value = 0.129 and a PR value = 4.132 which shows that a history of infectious diseases is at risk of having a 4,132 times greater chance of experiencing stunting events. Thus, it can be concluded that there is a relationship between maternal parenting, maternal nutrition knowledge, and a history of infectious diseases to stunting events, where a history of infectious diseases is the most dominant variable that causes stunting events in children aged 24-59 months in the Tanjung Raja Health Center work area during the Covid-19 pandemic. The researcher's suggestion is the active role of the community through participation in activities held by community health centers, such as counseling that will provide mothers with better knowledge and insight related to child health, especially regarding stunting.
