Abstract

ABSRTAK Dengan pemberian cairan pendingin larutan tembaga serta larutan aquadhes pada saat proses quenching dapat memperlambat proses laju korosi Baja ST 37. penelitian ini menggunakan metode penelitian eksperimental. Metode penelitian eksperimental ini digunakan untuk mencari pengaruh tertentu dari suatu perlakukan (treathment) terhadap sesuatu lainya yang diberikan oleh peneliti. penelitian ini dilakukan selama 168 jam atau 7 hari, spesimen yang digunakan sebanyak 5 spesimen, pada spesimen 5 tersebut di quenching dengan suhu 800°C dengan variasi spesimen 1 dengan media pendingin air aqudhes 95% + tembaga 5%, spesimen 2 dengan media pendingin air aqudhes 90% + tembaga 10%, spesimen 3 dengan media pendingin air aqudhes 85% + tembaga 15%, spesimen 4 dengan media pendingin air aqudhes 80% + tembaga 20%, spesimen 5 dengan media pendingin air aqudhes 100% + tembaga 0% (raw material). Dari penelitian yang dilakukan menunjukkan bahwa media pendingin quenching dengan media pendingin air aqudhes 100% + tembaga 0% lebih tahan korosif dari pada media pendingin air aqudhes 80% + tembaga 20%, dikarenakan larutan tembaga dan larutan pendingin aqudhes tidak dapat disatukan dalam menngendalikan laju korosi Baja ST 37.
