Abstract

An increase in the amount of solid B3 medical waste in hospitals can impact the health of patients, health workers, hospital staff and the general public if waste management is not carried out according to standards. This research aims to analyze the management of B3 solid medical waste carried out at Depati Hamzah Pangkalpinang Hospital. This research is qualitative—data collection methods by in-depth interviews, observation, photovoice, and document review. Sources of information were obtained from 8 informants, 1 key informant and 7 informants. Data validity uses method, source, and data triangulation. The results showed that solid B3 medical waste management at Depati Hamzah Pangkalpinang Hospital was not optimal. There has never been any 3R training, there are no warning boards and prohibition signs at TPS B3, there is a waste waiting room in an open condition next to the incinerator, the waste transport equipment is not disinfected but only doused with water, the waste transport workers do not use complete PPE, and the waste transport uses the same line with visitors and food delivery. It can be concluded that sorting, processing and stockpiling are by PermenLHK Number 56 of 2015, while reduction, storage and transportation are not by PermenLHK Number 56 of 2015.
