Abstract

Diagnosing palm oil disease is not an easy thing for palm oil farmers who lack of knowledge about pests and diseases of palm oil plant. To diagnose a disease, the necessary variables are needed in the form of symptoms of a disease that has an uncertain value, therefore an uncertainty method is needed to diagnose a disease. Naïve Bayes method is one method of uncertainty that is suitable to be applied in the problem of classifying the types of symptoms of oil palm plantations. The Certainty Factor method is a method to prove the uncertainty of an expert's thoughts, symptoms that have uncertainty can be used in this method to diagnose oil palm plant disease. From the result of the research, there is a difference in the percentage value of the diagnosis of palm oil diseases from these two methods. The diagnosis result of diseases using the Naïve Bayes method obtained an accuracy value 73.17%, while the Certainty Factor method obtained an accuracy value 93.75%. So it can be concluded that the Certainty Factor method is better than the Naïve Bayes method in diagnosing palm oil disease.
