Abstract
It's not easy to know the identity of a victim, if most of their body is not shaped again. There are many ways to identify victims who died, among others with DNA, fingerprints and tooth images. Teeth is part of the body that is usually still intact, because solid tooth structure. So the researchers proposed research on victim identification with use dental image. There are several stages to identification of victims using dental images. This paper aims to create a dental classification system able to recognize molar teeth (back gums) and premolar (front gum). An approach with back-propagation artificial neural network was proposed with a new feature Mesiodistal neck width. This feature is a solution for photos of imperfect teeth (crown - tooth root). The dental image used is dental panoramic radiograph. Before classification done, some image improvements are done with, contrast adaptive, and tresholding. To increase accuracy of classification then numbering is also done and re-examination of the tooth structure. The system shows 83.3% accuracy for test data
