Abstract

The risk factors for the occurrence of COVID-19 transmission to intern doctors are because PPI policies in hospitals have not been implemented properly, and clinical authority for doctors participating in the Indonesian Physician Internship Program (IPIP) has not been regulated or definitively limited in PERMENKES No 39 of 2017. Therefore , hospitals must immediately follow up on the PPI COVID-19 policy to prevent infection from occurring to both patients, intern doctors, health workers and hospital visitors. This study aims to analyze infection prevention and control policies for intern doctors during the COVID-19 pandemic at the H. Abdul Manap Regional General Hospital, Jambi City. This research method uses qualitative research methods. The data collection technique was carried out by a Focus Group Discussion with 6 internal doctor informants, in- depth interviews with 1 PPI committee chairman, 1 head of nursing and 1 nurse as well as observation. The data were analyzed using thematic analysis. The results of the study show that the implementation of PPI policies has not run optimally as in the role of communication, outreach to intern doctors has not yet been carried out. The role of resources, for the availability of PPE, especially gowns and masks, is still limited and supporting facilities are not yet available for PCR examination, ICU COVID and OK COVID room. The role of the bureaucratic structure, intern doctors have not been shown or disseminated directly to the SOP regarding the PPI COVID-19 policy and the implementation of PPI policies such as screening in the emergency department, emergency department triage and hospital facilities have not gone well . There are still obstacles in the implementation of policies such as from the aspects of communication, resources, bureaucratic structure and PPI policy implementation. hoped that the hospital can socialize/educate PPI policies to all staff, especially intern doctors and provide PPE in accordance with the SOP.
