Abstract

Epulis is a benign tumor and its growth from the interdental papilla periodontal tissues and periosteum. Epulis can occur at any age in female or male and there is a correlation with the level of education and economic status that related with etiology factors. Therefore, w e need research t o see the total cases of epulis by sex, age and the payment system of health in dental clinic of RSUP Dr. Mohammad Hoesin Palembang in period January 2008 - December 2012. The field of this study is a descriptive survey research that used a purposive sampling technique. The samples in this research were patients who came for treatment to the dental clinic of RSUP Dr. Mohammad Hoesin Palembang with epulis cases recorded in the register book and medical records of patients in period January 2008 - December 2012. The result of this research showed the total cases of epulis are 153 people that more occurs in female total 113 people (73.86%) in the age range 41-50 years 51 people (33.33%). Patients with cases of epulis more used As kin for payment in the hospital total 75 people (49,02%). The conclusion is the cases of epulis most common in female patients in the decade fourth until fifth that the most widely used payment Askin system.
