Abstract

Background. Extraction is taking permanent teeth using pliers from the socket in the upper jaw and lower jaw. First permanent molar tooth extraction had the highest prevalence because of the first permanent tooth eruption in children around the age of 6-7 years. The loss of first permanent molar can cause many problems in the oral cavity. Aim. The purpose of this study w as to determine the prevalence offirst permanent molar extraction based on the location of the extraction, age, gender and reason for extraction in RS RK Charitas Palembang. Method. This research is a descriptive survey, which is done by observing the secondary data from medical records of first permanent molars extraction patients in RS RK Charitas during January 2012 to January 2015, using total sampling technique. Results. The results showed first permanent molar extraction as many as 113 cases. The highest location of extraction in the mandible many as 91 cases. Extraction is done in some age groups, the most frequently extraction that is 26-33 years many as 26 cases. Women (55.8%) more perform tooth extractions than men. The extraction reason most due to necrosis of the pulp as many as 103 cases. Conclusion. Extraction most in the mandible than in the maxilla. The age group most frequently extraction that is 26-33 years. Women are more perform tooth extractions than men. The extraction reason most due to pulp necrosis, followed by periodontal disease, pathological lesions, orthodontics and tooth fracture reasons.
