Abstract

Subsurface irrigation systems with porous emitters have excellent performance ranging from material selection, uniformity of material permeability, water discharge, plant nutrition, plant water needs, volume, and influence on plant growth. Porous emitter irrigation technology can apply water around the plant's rooting area so that the water given to the plant is very efficient. Emitter design is the most important parameter in the design, operation, and management of water and nutrients in subsurface irrigation systems. The correct design and selection of emitter materials can minimize water loss and eliminate surface runoff and percolation. The disadvantage of irrigation under the soil surface during this time, the water flowing ability is not by the hydraulic conductivity of the soil. The ability of soil to pass water depends on water discharge. The amount of permeability value can be used as an indicator of the rate of seepage of a material (soil) in a saturated state of plant burly. Another problem of using irrigation on the surface occurs in the buildup of salt around the root due to water droplets that occur at one point and expensive investment costs. The research objective is to produce a subsurface irrigation design using porous emitters for vegetable crops in pots that are integrated into one irrigation network. Obtained data on hydraulic characteristics of porous fabric materials used as emitters in this study. Knowing the influence of different types of emitters and the treatment of water administration on plant growth and production. Based on problems encountered in the field, research was conducted to produce emitters with subsurface irrigation systems. The subsurface irrigation system is designed to use porous emittersthat function to regulate the flow of water that is not dripped directly into the root area to reduce blurring, but seepage in selected porous materials 3 horizontally adjusts to the conductivity of the soil around the roots of the plant using local components, cheap and can be applied by farmers for a long time. The results of the analysis overall flannel material emitter has the best performance based on hydraulic conductivity of 4,681 cm/hour, increased water discharge of 1,933 l / hour, uniformity rate of 91.33%, moisture content of 77.76 %, plant height of 228.6 cm, number of leaves 157.8 strands, number of flowers 133.4 and number of fruits 92. Irrigation of porous emitters is very efficient in water use. The total water needs of the plant during the vegetative period to production for daily watering are 7.8 liters to 14.8 liters and watering intervals of 1 day are 3.5 liters to 7.9 liters. Flannel emitter subsurface irrigation is optimal in meeting the growth needs of plants, without any water loss due to percolation, no surface flow, and efficient in the use of water and nutrients. The advantage of a porus irrigation system is an irrigation system that can seep water around plants with a small discharge and can maintain soil moisture around the root without evaporation, infiltration, and percolation.
