Abstract

The aims of this study were: (1) to identify local wisdom practiced by Lebak rice farmers in Embacang Village, Lubuk Keliat District (2) To describe the survival strategies used by Lebak rice farmers to live a life with local wisdom in Embacang Village, Lubuk Keliat District, and (3) Analyzing the behavior of farmers in conducting lebak swamp rice farming in Embacang Village, Lubuk Keliat District. This research was conducted in Embacang Village, Lubuk Keliat District. The selection of research locations and sampling was carried out purposefully. Data collection was carried out from October to November 2022. The research method used was a survey method. The sample selection was carried out by purposive sampling which had certain research respondent criteria. The results of the study showed that (1) the farmers of paddy swamps and traditional fishing in Embacang Village have local wisdom that is still applied, such as using traditional tools, (2) their income is not sufficient to meet the standard needs (KHL) of Embacang Village. Therefore, farmers carry out survival strategies, namely active strategies such as peanut farming and traditional fishing, passive strategies by saving expenses and network strategies such as making family loans, (3) The behavior of lebak paddy rice farmers with local wisdom is included in the in the high criteria.
