Abstract
Hyperglicemia which occurs in Diabetes Melitus (DM) due to under secrection of insulin may effect increasing collagenase activities and decreasing collagen synthesis, and also may increasing the form of calculus, impact to periodontal disease. This research was conducted to assess the relationship of DM type 2 with risk of teeth mobility. The samples of this research were divided into 2 groups, DM (endocrine polyclinic outpatient of RSMH Palembang) and Non DM. Each groups consist of 30 peoples, whereas teeth mobility and OHIS were controlled. Frequent occurance of teeth mobility in DM 53,3% and Non DM 10%, with OR:10. Based on categories of OHIS controlled (good, fair, and poor), DM have 3,3%, 66,7%, and 30% and Non DM 50%, 36,6%, and 13,4%. The results are significant statistically (p < 0,05). It could be concluded that high level of blood glucose and worse oral hygiene status may significantly influence the teeth mobility.
