In a Journal, the data obtained from Dr. Hasan Sadikin hospital that in 1999- 2001 were 840 patients who received sedative-hypnotic drugs for dental treatment procedure in pediatric and adult, 50 of them patients with inhalation sedation of N20-02, 123 patients with oral midazolam sedation, 38 patients with intravenous midazolam sedation, 7 patients with intravenous propofol sedation, and others are under general anesthesia with or without intubation. Dental treatments include: extraction, odontektomi, endodontic treatment, dental restoration, to open obturator, made an incision, excision, suturing the tongue, alveolektomi, treatment of the mandible fractures, and many others. Midazolam is one of the best of the sedative-hypnotic drugs used in dentistry. Midazolam is a derivate imidazobenzodiazepine from benzodiazepine group which relatively short duration of action. It can be administered per oral, intravenous or intranasal routes as a premedication and peri-operative medication. Midazolam is safe for pediatric and adults patients, has immediate working hour, shorter half-life, do not cause irritation when injected because it dissolve in water, and has a favorable anterograde amnesia. It has become alternative choice of sedative-hypnotic drugs in dental treatment procedure because of it many benefits. One of midazolam indication is to modijy patient behaviour because they have arociety during dental treatment procedure because most of the procedure have tendencies to cause awciety.
