Abstract

A proper oral hygiene can be achieved and maintained by mechamcal and Chemical. Toothbrushing is the important role to improve the level of dental and oral hygiene. One of the way to train the children about toothbrushing is dental health education. Aim: The aim of this study was to compare the differences level of dental and oral hygiene from the toothbrushing result between before and after dental health education. Methode: The study methode was quasi experiment. The samples were 66 students between 10 and 12 years of age by using purposive sampling technique which was taken ffom MI Al-Arqam Palembang. Data were obtained through clinical examination with PHP (Personal Hygiene Performance) plaque index of Podshadley and Haley was analyzed stastically with paired sampel T test with significance rate 0,05. Result: Study result showed that level of dental and oral hygiene ffom the toothbrushing result that taken ffom the mean of plaque index before (1,560) and after (0,606) dental health education to the students of the elementary school of MI Al-Arqam Palembang. Out put statistic result indicated that there was significant differences differences level of dental and oral hygiene from the toothbrushing result between before and after dental health education (p<0,05). Conclusion: level of dental and oral hygiene ffom the toothbrushing result between after dental health education is better than before to the student of elementary school of MI Al-Arqam Palembang
