Abstract

Malocclusion teeth can to occur in children, adolescent, and adult. Adolescent is a people who undergo physic, psychological, intellectual, and spiritual developmental. Adolescent who suffer malocclusion doesn’t feel satisfy to their performance face so t ha t will causes feel oppressed and injluence social life, occupation, even that will decreased study activily because of will be shy to meet another people / bullying. lf this situation keep on occur so their psychosocial life will be disturbed. Adolescent will be arvciety, depression, loneliness, behaviour problem, and low self esteem. The aim of this study is to know how much psychosocial impact from malocclusion teeth in adolescents student ofSMU PATRA MANDIRI I in Palembang city. The methode of this study is cross sectional observasional, consist of sampling survey and purposive sampling. The study result of 45 samples show that most of samples suffer malocclusion class I type I especially for female adolescent. From Questionnaire that has been answered by samples show that most of the female adolescent undergo psychosocial impact (anxiety, depression, loneliness, behaviour problem, and low self esteem) effect from malocclusion class I type I. It can show that samples especially for female adolescent who suffer malocclusion class I type 1 same as with psychosocial impact who effect from malocclusion class I type 1. The conclusion is malocclusion teeth can influence human psychosocial life especially for adolescent. The female often to complain than male. This is because female more sensitive to the change in their life and then female more care about their aesthetics problem. Because of that most of the female do orthodontic treatment than male because female doesn V feel comfortable with their face shape.
