Abstract
Background: Wild banana has been traditionally usedfor bonefracture healing. Wild banana contains a high level of amino acid and mineral. Amino acid can increase the insulin growth factor 1 (IGFl) that can stimulate osteoblast proliferation. Objective: The aim of this study was to know the effect of wild banana juice on the number of osteoblast after tooth extraction wound healing. Method: This study used post-test only-control group design with 30 wistar rats that the left incisors in the lower jaw had been extracted. Randomly, the rats were divided into two groups (experimental and control). Each group was divided into 3 subgroups based on periode of termination (5, 10, and 15 days). The experimental groups were given wild banana juice orally using an oral sonde with a dosage of 8,25 g/kgBB once a day whereas control groups were only given aquadest. The rats were euthanasized on day 5, 10, and 15. A H E staining was used and the number of osteoblast were counted with 400 times magnification. The data was analyzed by using independent sample t-test and one-way anova. Result: The number of osteoblast on the experimental groups were significantly higher than the control (p<0,05). The osteoblast increased in a time-dependent manner. Conclusion: Wild banana juice could increased the osteoblast proliferation during the wound healing after teeth extraction.
