Abstract
Peat soil is formed from the accumulated remains of old, dead, and partially modified plants and has a minimum organic matter of 12–18% C and a minimum thickness of 50 cm. Peatland water management requires a good understanding of the physical properties of peatlands. Peat soil contains a lot of water, but it dries quickly. The purpose of this study was to analyze the water content of peat with different temperature variations and at other times. Testing of moisture content (%) lost in peat soil is carried out by burning at 3 variations of temperature, namely 50 °C, 100 °C, and 150 °C, using 5 variations of burning time (1 hour, 2 hours, 3 hours, 4 hours, and 5 hours) and depths of 1 meter, 2 meters, and 3 meters. Reduction of water content with a time of 1 hour, 2 hours, 3 hours, 4 hours, and 5 hours using temperatures of 50°C, 100°C, and 150°C will be even more significant, so the heating time and temperature variations will be greater. used, the water content is much reduced. In this study, the greatest reduction in water content occurred at a temperature of 150 °C with a heating time of 5 hours.
