Abstract

Motivation to learn is a motive or encouragement to carry out an activity/work in order to achieve goals in order to change individual behavior through interaction with the environment. This research is motivated by students who are less interested in learning physics and find it difficult to follow physics lessons. To find out students' learning motivation in physics learning, researchers feel the need to do an analysis of students' learning motivation in physics learning at SMA Negeri 1 Suak Tapeh. This study aims to determine the level of students' learning motivation in learning physics at SMA Negeri 1 Suak Tapeh. The method used in this study was a quantitative survey and the instrument used in this study was a test in the form of a Likert scale, namely the MSPL (Motivating Scale Toward Physics Learning) instrument. The test was carried out on 60 students consisting of class X and class XII of SMA Negeri 1 Suak Tapeh. The results of research conducted at SMA Negeri 1 Suak Tapeh found that 26 students were in the high category with a percentage of 43.3%, 33 students were in the medium category with a percentage of 55% and 1 student was in the low category with a percentage of 1.7 %. From these results it was concluded that the learning motivation of students in learning physics at SMA Negeri 1 Suak Tapeh was still in the moderate category.
