Abstract

Every elderly can experience loneliness. Loneliness, no family, leaving a partner died or left behind children who already have their own family are things that can trigger the loneliness of each individual. This study aims to determine the relationship of loneliness with social interaction. This research is a kind of quantitative research, with Cross Sectional design. The population in this study is all elderly in UPTD of Indralaya institution is our hope in elderly social. Techniques in sampling using Purposive sampling. The sample size in this research is 60 respondent. Methos of data collection using questionnaires on each variable. The statistical test used in this study is chi square. The results showed correlation between loneliness with social interaction in elderly got significant value P value / α = 0,001 meaning that there is relation of lonely elderly with social interaction at elderly in UPTD Elderly Social Institution is our hope in Indralaya. In this study proves that there is a positive relationship between loneliness and social interction in the elderly in UPTD Elderly Social Institution our hope in Indralaya, where loneliness can affect the occurrence of social interaction level in elderly in UPTD Social Institution Elderly Indralaya. It is recommended for the elderly to increase cooperation between fellow orphanages, participate in mutual cooperation activities in cleaning the orphanage, and take part in healthy gymnastics every Friday morning at the orphanage.
