Abstract

The issue of flooding in Arsenio Residence 4 housing complex in Palembang is causing the existing drainage system to be unable to accommodate the current water flow. This study aims to determine the planned water flow to evaluate the dimensions of the existing drainage system and plan the dimensions of the planned drainage system in the Arsenio Residence 4 housing complex where the drainage system has not been optimally designed to prevent flooding in the area. The data collection methods used are primary data in the form of the length and dimensions of the existing drainage system and secondary data in the form of the housing complex area, rainfall data, and land use. The data analysis methods used are hydrological analysis to calculate the planned water flow using the rational method and hydraulic analysis to determine the planned drainage system's dimensions. The planned water flow obtained from the hydrological analysis calculation with a planned rainfall of 146.4828 mm in a 5-year return period using the Gumbel distribution is 0.76066 m3/second. Based on the analysis, the existing drainage system cannot accommodate the planned water flow, both open channels with dimensions of 30 x 45 cm and culverts with dimensions of 40 x 40 cm. The hydraulic analysis results based on the planned water flow obtained from the hydrological analysis indicate a planned dimension of 80 x 91 cm.
