Abstract
Concrete material is still the main choice in the field of construction. With the very rapid development of construction in Indonesia requiring various kinds of innovations in the field of construction,. In order to innovate a low density concrete material, it is necessary to fill the coarse aggregate in the concrete with light aggregate material. The use of lightweight materials is one way to apply the concept of earthquake-resistant buildings, according to Indonesia's geography, which often experiences earthquakes. In addition, factors that are no less important are the treatment process, the cold bonding and autoclaved methods which are tested at the age of the test object 28 days. In this study, the optimum mixed material was obtained for the manufacture of lightweight aggregates using the cold bonding method because this method obtained specimens with the lowest density, water absorption, impact strength values while the highest compressive strength was obtained in the cold bonding method, but in the autoclaved method there were also objects tests that meet SNI 03-2461-2002 standards on testing density, water absorption, and compressive strength and BS 812 standards for impact strength testing, yields that are not optimal compared to the cold bonding treatment method even though tested at the same age of 28 days The autoclaved method undergoes an absorption process in the test which causes the specimen with autoclaved treatment to be less optimal than cold bonding.
