Abstract

The use of Crumb Rubber as a substitute material for some natural aggregates in concrete is intended to produce rubberized concrete which can reduce the environmental impact due to the increasing accumulation of used tire waste. This study aims to determine the effect of variations in use crumb rubber as a partial replacement for fine aggregate in concrete that has previously undergone 24-hour immersion treatment. In this study using a variation of the use crumb rubber 0%, 5%, 10% and 15% of the volume of fine aggregate. The specimens in this study were cylindrical in shape with dimensions of 15 cm x 30 cm. Compressive strength testing was carried out at the age of 7, 14, 28 days and crumb rubber was given a water immersion treatment for 24 hours. The results showed that the addition crumb rubber using the immersion treatment method with a predetermined ratio as a substitute for fine aggregate increased the compressive strength of concrete, However, the results of the compressive strength of the achievement are better, namely with the ratio of compressive strength ratio to the normal compressive strength of 0.87: 0.78 and 0.70 respectively for a 5%, 10%and 15%rubber mixture.
