Abstract

Buckgrounds: To gel brighier smile and whiler ieeih cuu.se an increasing of cosmciic dental care needs. Tooth colored restorative materials and dental bleaching pari oj cosmetic dental care. Dental bleaching agent influence on restorative materials of glass ionomer with increase the solubility and reduce the bond strength. Aiffis: To observe the ejfect oj bleaching material (10% carbamid peroxide) during application time on the surjace hardness oj resin-modijied glass ionomer cement (RMGIC) restorative material. Methods: 27 cylindrical samples of RMGIC. with 5 mm in diameter and 3 mm in thickness were divided ini o 3 groups. Each group consisied of 9 samples. Group one as a control group, group 2 were given application of 10% carbamid peroxide 2 hours a day, and group 3 were given application of 10% carbamid peroxide 4 hours a day. The surface hardness of RMGIC w as measured by Vickers Hardness Tester. The measuremeni of surface hardness of RMGIC was conducled ai before application, one week, and two weeks ajier the application of 10% carbamide peroxide. The results were compared by repeated ANOVA and followed by Pairwise Comparisons tesi. Results: The repeated ANOVA showed a significani difference of surjace hardness oj RMGIC between the three groups (p<0,05). However, Pairwise Comparisons test showed a significant different o f surface hardness of RMGIC after applied 10% carbamid peroxide material 2 hours a day after two weeks, 4 hours a day after one week, and 4 hours a day after tw o weeks. Conclusions: Application time ofhome bleaching (10% carbamid peroxide) material can decrease the surface hardness of RMGIC.
