Abstract

Traditional gold mining workers are people who work to make ends meet, without thinking about the impact of the work done both in terms of the environment and health. The purpose of this study is to explore the use of the Photovoice method in creating space for gold mine workers through Participatory Action Research (PAR). Qualitative methods used constructively and CBPR. Informants were determined through a purposive sampling technique. There were 18 research informants (mining workers, health workers, and policymakers). Thematic analysis is used to see research patterns and themes. The results of the study, namely workers already understand pulmonary TB through information from families, health workers, and the community, but there is still neglect. In his behaviour, there are still habits that trigger the transmission of pulmonary TB such as smoking, eating behaviour and not maintaining distance, wearing work clothes, and being sick while still working. As a warning, awareness to wear PPE exists, but its availability is limited. From the results of the study it can be concluded that pulmonary TB in traditional gold mine workers is a health problem that needs attention, by inviting existing traditional gold mine workers to reduce habits that can be detrimental to health, both in the habit of smoking when working in mining pits that dark and cramped, wearing the same clothes when working, eating together and not maintaining distance, being sick still working. From this, awareness is also needed to continue to use personal protective equipment while working. It is hoped that gold mine workers working in traditional gold mines need to maintain occupational safety and health so that cases of pulmonary TB in mining can be prevented from transmitting, and families at home stay healthy.
