Abstract

PT Budi Gema Gempita is a mining company located in Lahat Regency, South Sumatra Province. The open pit mining method is carried out in strip mining with a combination of shovels and trucks. The overburden stripping target at Lawai 1 Pit in January 2021 was 75,000 BCM, but the planned stripping target was not achieved. Realization of overburden stripping was 55,760 BCM or around 74%. Failure to achieve the overburden stripping target needs to be minimized by conducting an analysis of the planned overburden stripping target. This study compares between actual calculations in the field and theoretical. This study aims to analyze why the unachieved stripping occurs and the factors causing the unachieved overburden stripping so that efforts can be made to minimize the unattained overburden stripping in January 2021. The results showed that the main factor in not achieving the overburden stripping target was due to the effect of effective working time. Therefore, it is necessary to improve the effective working time so that overburden removal increases to 105% of the given target.
