Abstract

Colibacillosis disease can affect egg quality because the disease causes a decrease in quail appetite, resulting in a lack of nutritional intake and inhibits ovarian development. Treatment using natural antibiotics aloe vera and guava leaves. This study aims to determine the effect of aloe vera and guava leaf extract supplementation on egg weight, yolk weight, white weight and Haugh unit of quail egg. This study used 100 quails aged 42 days. This study used a completely randomized design (CRD) with 5 treatments and 4 replications, consisting of: R0 (positive control) = E. coli + not supplemented, R1 (negative control) = not infected with E. coli + not supplemented, R2 = E. coli + supplemented with aloe vera extract (2%), R3 = E. coli + supplemented with aloe vera extract (4%), R4 = E. coli + supplemented with aloe vera (2%) + guava leaf (2%). The observed variables were egg weight, yolk weight, white weight and haugh unit of quail egg. The results of this study indicated that supplementation of extracts of aloe vera and guava leaves in drinking water on quail had a significant (P<0.05) effect on egg weight and egg white weight, but had no significant effect (P>0.05) on yolk weight and the haugh unit of quail egg. The conclusion of this study was that supplementation of aloe vera and guava leaf extract in quail was able to improve egg weight and egg white weight, but had not been able to improve yolk weight and haugh unit of quail egg.
