Abstract

Corn plants have high economic value because corn plant seeds contain high carbohydrates, so they can be processed into staple foods to replace rice, animal feed and other industrial raw materials. The problem often faced by farmers in the cultivation of maize crops are the lack of available nutrients in the soil due to improper fertilization techniques, unstable soil pH conditions and intensive land use, and not using seeds of high-yielding varieties. Meeting the needs of macro nutrients can be done by applying Urea, TSP, and KCl fertilizers to the soil. However, residues due to fertilization are very high and are able to pollute the environment. The way to overcome this is by applying nano fertilizers. Nano fertilizer is a form of utilizing the use of nanotechnology that changes the size of the material / material to be smaller to 10μm in size which aims to make the function of the fertilizer work specifically and efficiently. This problem can also be overcome by the application of mycorrhizae biofertilizers that can help the absorption of P nutrients by plants. Mycorrhizae is a fungus that can symbiotic mutualism against rooting in plants. Mycorrhizal fungi that have been applied will carry out initial infection with plant roots characterized by the presence of hyphae formed, so there will be an expansion of the roots which helps increase the absorption of P elements so that they can support plant growth and development. This study aims to determine the effectiveness of mycorrhizae biofertilizers in increasing the growth and production of feed maize and to determine the application of mycorrhizae biofertilizer doses and nano-liquid fertilizer doses that are needed to increase the growth and production of feed corn crops. The research was carried out at the Experimental Garden of the Faculty of Agriculture, Sriwijaya University and in the Labratorium of the Faculty of Agriculture, Sriwijaya University from March to June 2022. The research method used was a Group Randomized Design with 6 levels of treatment. Each treatment was repeated 3 times, so there were 18 experimental units. The 6 levels of treatment are J0: Control (Urea, KCl, and TSP according to the recommended dose), J1: 100% nano liquid fertilizer, J2: Mycorrhizae biofertilizer, J3: Mycorrhizae biofertilizer + 50% nano liquid fertilizer, J4: Mycorrhizae biofertilizer + 75% nano liquid fertilizer, J5; Mycorrhizae biofertilizer + 100% nano liquid fertilizer. The changes observed were plant height (cm), stem diameter (mm), number of leaves (strands), wet weight of the plant (g), dry weight of the plant (g), length of the cob without cornhusk (cm), diameter of the cob without cornhusk (mm), weight of the fruit with cornhusk (g), weight of the fruit without cornhusk (g), and weight of 1000 seeds (g). The data from the study were analyzed using ANOVA at a 5% significance level and post hoc test with the Duncan Multiple Range Test (DMRT). The results showed that the J0 treatment: Control (Urea, KCl, and TSP according to the recommended dose) treatment was the best treatment in increasing the growth and production yield of forage maize plants.
