Abstract

This study aims to: (1) describe the activities of watermelon farming in Mulyaguna Village, Teluk Gelam District, Ogan Komering Ilir Regency, (2) Analyze the factors that influence productivity and efficiency in the use of production inputs in watermelon farming in Mulyaguna Village, Teluk Gelam District, Ogan Komering Ilir Regency , (3) Calculating the income of watermelon farming in Mulyaguna Village, Teluk Gelam District, Ogan Komering Ilir Regency. This research was conducted in Mulyaguna Village, Teluk Gelam District, Ogan Komering Ilir Regency. Research methods that. used is the Survey Method. The sampling method used was purposive sampling method with 33 watermelon farmers as respondents. The data used are primary data and secondary data. The results of this study indicate that watermelon farming in Mulyaguna Village has one growing season between 2 to 3 months. Cultivation activities carried out consist of seed preparation, land preparation, planting, fertilizing, watering, pollination, pest and plant disease control, and harvesting. sales of watermelons are sold to middlemen. Production factors that affect watermelon productivity in Mulyaguna Village are land area, NPK fertilizer, labor and pesticides, while seeds, manure and Dolomite fertilizer have no effect on watermelon productivity. Input efficiency for watermelon farming production in Mulyaguna Village in terms of price for the use of labor is efficient, while land area, seeds, manure, Dolomite fertilizer and NPK fertilizer and pesticides are not price efficient. The average income earned by watermelon farmers in Mulyaguna Village is IDR Rp129.456.812,62 per planting season. The R/C value is 3,78, so means that watermelon farming is profitable. The B/C value is 2,78, so meaning that every one rupiah of production costs incurred by farmers can generate income of Rp2,78. BEP production volume of 10.933 kg and BEP production price of IDR Rp1.208,64.
