Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of the knife angle and knife rotation speed of the performance of chips chopping machine. This research was carried out from may to juli 2022 at the workshop laboratory, soil and water engineering, Department of agriculture technology, faculty of agriculture, sriwijaya university, indralaya, south sumatera. The method used in this study was a randomized factorial block design with two research factors, namely the angle knife and the speed of rotation of the blade with three treatment levels, namely the speed 0f 600 rpm, 700 rpm, and 800 rpm and each treatment interaction was repeated three times. The parameters of this research are the effective capacity of the machine, the efficiency of the chopping machine, the uniformity of the chopping results, and the results of the chopping thickness. The results of this study indicate that the highest effective engine capacity is found in the combination treatment of 30° angle knife and angle knife and knife rotation speed of 700 rpm (A1B2), which is 52,44 kg/hour. For the most efficient cutting treatment, the combination of 35° angle knife and knife rotation speed of 800 rpm (A2B3) is 98.14%. For the average percentage of the treatment combination, the highest uniformity of cutting results was in the treatment of 30° angle knife and the blade rotation speed of 700 rpm (A1B2) which was 41.94%. And for the treatment of the highest slice thickness treatment at 40° angle knife and 600 rpm rotation speed (A3B1) which is 1.15 mm.
