Abstract

Bulk fiil composite resin is a resin composite which designed to speed up restoration process. It can be filled up to 4 mm of depth and shrinkage can be minimized during polymerization. Split horizontal incremental technique is a phased placement technique which reduce c-factor and minimize microleakage. This study aimed to compare the microleakage of bulk fiil composite resin (X-tra fiil, Voco) placement by using split horizontal incremental and bulk technique. Thirty two human maxillary premolars were stored in distilled water andfrozed. The teeth was planted into a cast box and class II cavities were prepared. Samples were divided into two groups, group one was split horizontal incremental placement techniques and group two was bulk, placement techniques. Samples were stored in an incubator at 37°C for 24 hours. Sampel were manually thermocycled for 100 times at 5°C and 55X1, then immersed in 1% methylene blue solution for 24 hours. The teeth were sectioned by using separating disc. Microleakage were measured by Digital USB Microscope with 100 x magnification in millimeters. Data were obtained from occlusal-pulp and cervical-pulp wali. The result showed that microleakage avarage at occlusal-pulp wali in group 1 was 0.144 mm and 0.031 mm at cervical-pulp wali, group 2 was 1,706 mm at occlusal-pulp wali and 1,413 mm at the cervical-pulp wali Data was analyzed using Mann Whitney test, and had a significant difference between the two groups on the occlusal-pulp wali (p<0.05) and cervical-pulp wali (p<0.05). It can be concluded that placement of bulk fiil composite resin in class II cavities using split horizontal incremental technique produces less microleakage than the bulk technique on the occlusal-pulp wali and cervical-pulp wali.
