Abstract

Climate change is a change in temperature conditions and weather patterns over a long period of time. Climate change is very influential on the agricultural sector, one of which is the rice commodity. Climate change threatens farming in terms of production and income. This study discusses the technical risk level of rice farming in swamp land. The aims of this study were: (1) To identify and describe the risks faced by farmers in conducting rice farming due to climate change in the swamp land of Sudimampir Village, Indralaya District, Ogan Ilir Regency. (2) Analyzing the level of technical risk and the value of risk management in carrying out rice farming due to climate change in the swamp land of Sudimampir Village, Indralaya District, Ogan Ilir Regency. (3) Knowing how the behavior of farmers in dealing with the technical risks of rice farming due to climate change in the swamp land of Sudimampir Village, Indralaya District, Ogan Ilir Regency. This research was conducted in December 2022. The method used was a survey method by conducting interviews using a questionnaire with rice farmers in Sudimampir Village. The sampling method uses simple random sampling by taking 90 samples. The results of this study are: (1) Farming risks that occur due to climate change in swamp land, in Sudimampir Village, Ogan Ilir Regency, are floods, droughts, and pest attacks. (2) The level of technical risk of rice farming due to climate change in swamp land in Sudimampir Village, Ogan Ilir Regency, is categorized as low with a coefficient of variation (CV) of 0.04 and a lower limit (L) of 2,610.23. The technical risk management value obtained was 3,169.27 kg/ha/year. (3) Farmers' behavior is grouped into 3 phases, namely before planting, during planting, and after planting.
