Abstract

This study aims to determine the perceptions of students of SMA Negeri 1 Lahat on the Korean pop culture. The method used in this research is using descriptive qualitative research. The social situation in this research is SMA Negeri 1 Lahat as (the place), students of class XI Mipa 1,2,3,4, and 5 as (actors) and the perceptions of SMA Negeri 1 Lahat students towards Korean pop culture as (activity) as well as There were 5 people who became informants in this study where the informants were selected based on a combined technique, namely Random Sampling and Purposive Sampling with the criteria of being a big fan of K-pop. In this study the data collection techniques used were in the form of documentation, observation and interviews. So the results of the research conducted show that the perceptions of SMA Negeri 1 Lahat students can be seen from 2 indicators. That is, in the first indicator, role models have a positive impact on students in the form of insight and role models because students have criteria for choosing their idols so that they can motivate students to try and not have an impact on student education. Meanwhile, the second indicator, Expression of Idolization is negative because it can lead to excessive consumption patterns among students.
