Abstract

The toll road connecting Palembang and Indralaya is built on a generally soft layer of soil. This is because soft soils generally have low shear strength, which takes longer to consolidate. Soil improvement using PVD assistance is a solution to get a short time. The analysis was carried out using the Terzaghi Method and Plaxis 2D Software. The method used in this study was the analytical method. Analysis of settlement and consolidation time with manual calculations using Terzaghi Theory and using infinite element analysis with Plaxis 2D Software. The stages of carrying out the analysis begin with a literature study to get the results of the magnitude of the settlement and the time of settlement on the soil. The result of the settlement is 3.14 m with a consolidation time of 90%, namely 81 years without PVD using the Terzaghi method while using PVD with variations in the resulting time interval of 1 m was achieved for 23 days, 1.2 m for 52 days and 1.3 m was achieved for 75 days. Calculations using Plaxis 2D obtained a decrease of 4.2 m for 9867. When using PVD the time required with a distance variation of 1 m for 578 days, 1.2 m for 1073 days and 1.3 m for 1054 days. variations in distance between PVDs, it is hoped that there will be research to compare the results of the settlement time with variations in the effectiveness of different PVD piling depths and PVD piling patterns and using Plaxis 3D
