Abstract

This research aims to describe UN Women's strategy in dealing with the problems of PMI women in Malaysia during the Covid-19 pandemic. Movement restrictions imposed by the Malaysian government through the Movement Control Order (MCO) during the Covid-19 pandemic, PMI women working in the country are experiencing increased violence and various problems. This study uses the theory oftransnational advocacy network as a rationale. The research method used is qualitative with an exploratory and descriptive research design. The data sources used are primary and secondary data obtained from interviews and literature studies. The results of the study show that ni dealing with the problems of PMI women in Malaysia during the Covid-19 pandemic, UN Women has made several efforts through 4 appropriate strategies from the transnational advocacy network theory, namely information politics, symbolic politics, leverage politics and accountability politics. Where in the information politics strategy, UN Women provides important information for service providers, information on self-rescue, and information on maintaining mental health during the Covid-19 pandemic. In the symbolic politics strategy, UN Women provides medical equipment (PPE Kits) and information materials containing safety planning and collaborates with social media Twitter. In the leverage politics strategy, UN Women runs a safe and fair program with the ILO and provides support to civil society. Then, in the accountability politics strategy, UN Women provides policy recommendations for the government, employers and civil society.
