Abstract

This research entitled Analysis of Factors Affecting Students in Choosing Economy Education Study Program of Sriwijaya University. The problem of this research is "Any factor that influences the student in choosing Economy Education of Sriwijaya University". This study aims to determine the factors that affect students in choosing courses Economy Education of Sriwijaya University. This research is quantitative descriptive. The subjects of this study are students of Economy Education of Sriwijaya University class of the year 2016 and class of the year 2017 as many as 142 respondents. Research variable is an internal factor that is: interest, motivation, aspiration and external factor that is: family, environment, peers. Data collection techniques used questionnaires of 80 items of statements, interviews of 24 questions, and documentation of student self-data. The validity of the data used to determine the factors that influence the students in choosing the study program of Economic Education of Sriwijaya University is triangulation analysis of source and triangulation technique. Based on the result of questionnaire data, the students were chosen by the students who chose the aspiration factor (39,43%), family factor (53,52%), and peer factor (7.04%), so based on the total of the result that the most dominant factor was selected is a family factor.
