Abstract

PT Bukit Asam Tbk. is a coal mining company located at Tanjung Enim, South Sumatra Province. This research was conducted due to a heavy rain occured in October 2022 which makes the sump’s partition breaking. Water keeps entering the sump too because the ring canal is not long enough to keep the water away from getting into the sump, it is feared that this could disrupt the production. Therefore, it is important to take optimal actions of mine dewatering. The incoming water debit at Pit 1 is 89.160,11 m3/day in total of groundwater and runoff water debit. The sump’s recommendation is 5 m in depth, length and width of the base is 828,81 m, length and width of the surface is 834,98 m, and it makes the sump’s volume 3.460.309,54 m3. The running pumps are 3 units in total with HDPE type of pipes for all the pumps exist. The total volume of the pumps is 67.200 m3/day calculated by using the pump’s curve performance with pump’s daily working hour is 32 hours which is overworked. To overcome this situation, it is recommended to change the HDPE pipe’s diameter to 14 inch for unit with hull number PP0187 and running the pump at 1550 rpm. It is also recommended to add one pump with elevation and specification same as unit with hull number PP0189. Based on these recommendations, the new pumps debit calculated by curve performance is 95.280 m3/day with 22 hours of daily working hour.
