Abstract

Squamous Cell Carcinoma is the second most malignancy of skin tumor after Basal Cell Carcinoma. However, the nature of it is very invasive that can start metastasis through lymph nodes or blood. 75% of Squamous Cell Carcinoma could cause death. Research on prevalence or characteristics of Squamous Cell Carcinoma is rarely done in Indonesia. The purpose of this research is to identify the prevalence and analyze socio-demographic characteristics by age, gender, geography location, occupation, and also lesion size and the histo-pathology examination of Squamous Cell Carcinoma. Research information is completed by collecting secondary data of medical record from Squamous Cell Carcinoma patients at Eye Policlinic RSUP Dr.Mohammad Hoesin Palembang. The n, the result is presented in table and graph figure with specific narrative information. Based on research, it is found that 28 Squamous Cell Carcinoma patients are among 247 eye-tumor patients or around 11.33%. The most infected patient age group is 67-76 years old with overall average is 48.04 years. The prevalence Squamous Cell Carcinoma overall males to females’ ratio stand equal, 14 patients each. However, for Squamous Cell Carcinoma eyelid, the ratio is 1.5:1.0. On the other hand, for Squamous Cell Carcinoma conjunctiva, the ratio goes for 1.0:1.6. As for 12 patients (42.85%) patients live at Palembang City, 7 patients live out of Palembang city, and the rest of it, 9 patients (32,15%) unidentified where they live. In location of lesion proportional, 13 patients (46.43%) suffers at conjunctiva, 7 patients (25%) at inferior palpebra, 5 patients (17,85%) at superior palpebra, 2 patients (7,14%) at inferior margo palpebra, and 1 patient (3,57%) at superior margo palpebra. According to lesion size, 14 patients (50%) of lesion size falls at T1 stage or <5mm, 7 patients (25%) at T2a stage or 5-10mm, 4 patients (14,29%) at T2b stage or 10-2Omm, and 3 patients at T3a stage or >2 Om m. There are only 5 patients whose invation rate already known is carcinoma in situ and 23 patients are unknown. For histopathological examination, there are only 3 patients which have that examinalion on their medical record and the rest of it, about 25 patients are uncompleted with histopathological examination. We can conclude that the most infected patient age group is 67-76 years old with average is 48.04 years. The prevalence Squamous Cell Carcinoma overall males to females’ ratio stand equal. However, for Squamous Cell Carcinoma eyelid, the ratio is 1.5:1.0. On the other hand, for Squamous Cell Carcinoma conjunctiva, the ratio goes for 1.0:1.6. As for 42.85% patients live at Palembang City, 46.43% suffers at conjunctiva and 50% of lesion size falls at T1 stage or <5mm.
