Abstract

Background: Placenta previa is defined as placenta that lies low in the uterus and partially or completely covers the orificium uteri intemum. The etiology of placenta previa remain unclear until now, but high parity may play role in the occurence of placenta previa. Objectives: The goal of this research is to know the relationship between parity and placenta previa at Dr. Mohammad Hoesin General Hospital, Palembang. Method: This research is a analitic observasional study with cross-sectional study during October 2013 to January 2014. The population of this research was antepartum haemorrhage patients at Dr. Mohammad Hoesin General Hospital Palembang. The sample of this research was placenta previa patients at Dr. Mohammad Hoesin General Hospital Palembang. Results: This research show that there were 164 placenta previa patients (74,5%) of 220 antepartum haemorrhage patients. Placenta previa on nullipara (OR, 1,0), primipara (OR, 1,2), multipara (OR, 0,8), and grandemultipara (OR, 1,6). Conclusion: There is no relationship between parity and placenta previa.
