Abstract

Research on "Genetic Diversity Analysis of Thermophilic Bacteria from Semendo Using 16S rRNA Gene has been conducted from August to December 2022, at the Genetics and Biotechnology Laboratory, Department of Biology, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, Sriwijaya University. This study aims to analyze the genetic diversity and species of thermophilic bacteria from Semendo hot springs using the 16S rRNA gene. The isolation results obtained 6 isolates from 4 samples from Semendo hot springs. The species of thermophilic bacteria from Semendo hot springs that can be identified are Paenibacillus phoenicis Strain 3PO2SA, Anoxybacillus flavithermus Strain AE3, Anoxybacillus geothermalis Strain D9, and Anoxybacillus rupiensis strain X-08. The five bacterial isolates identified had varying genetic distances and polymorphic sites, indicating genetic diversity.
