Abstract
Quenching merupakan proses perlakuan panas dimana logam akan dipanaskan hingga berada di suhu austenit dengan pendinginan secara cepat. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh media pendingin senyawa NIkel, terhadap laju korosi baja ST 37 pada proses quenching. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode eksperimen, terdapat empat spesimen yang diuji dengan melalui tahapan quenching yang sama namun konsentrasi senyawa chromiumnya bervariasi 0%, 5%, 10%, 15%, dan 20%. Suhu yang digunakan 8000C dengan waktu penahanan 30 menit. Kemudian spesimen direndam dalam media korosif berupa asam asetat selama 144 jam. Selanjutnya dilakukan pengujian laju korosi menggunakan metode weight loss. Hasil perhitungan pada spesimen dengan kadar 0% laju korosinya 0,42 mm/y, sedangkan kadar 5% 0,48 mm/y, kadar 10% 0,49 mm/y, kadar 15% 0,74 mm/y dan kadar 20% 0,65 mm/y. Dari penelitian ini dapat disimpulkan bahwa larutan Nikel berpengaruh pada laju korosi, semakin besar kadar Nikelnya maka laju korosinya meningkat dan sebaliknya jika kadarnya lebih rendah maka laju korosinya menurun.
