Abstract

This research is entitled "Socio-Economic Development of Gambo Fabric Craftsmen in Toman Village, Tripe Toman sub-district, Musi Banyuasin Regency, 2017-2022". The issues raised are how the development of Gambo cloth crafts in Toman Village and how the socio-economic development of Gambo cloth craftsmen in Toman Village, Babat Toman sub-district, Musi Banyuasin Regency from 2017 to 2022. The purpose of this research is to explain how the craftsmanship, social and economic development of Gambo cloth in Toman Village, Tripe Toman sub-district, Musi Banyuasin Regency. In this study, the authors used historical method, through four steps, namely heuristics, source criticism, interpretation, and historiography. While the approach used in this study is the economic and sociological approach. Based on the research results, it has been found that the development of Gambo cloth has developed rapidly, starting from Gambo cloth which is included in regional superior products and has become one of the icon of Musi Banyuasin Regency. This development occurred because Gambo cloth only uses dyes from natural materials and is environmentally friendly so it can preserve the area's natural wealth. The social life of the craftsmen is well established between the craftsmen, the craftsmen, the gambier farmers, the craftsmen and the tailors, and the craftsmen and the government. Then, the economic development of craftsmen developed significantly and could help increase household finances.
