Abstract

Farmer group empowerment is a series of activities carried out to improve farmers' knowledge and skills through training and counseling in order to realize independent and competitive farmers. The phenomenon found in the field is the lack of knowledge and skills of farmers and the helplessness of farmer groups in Suspension Bridge Village which has an impact on crop yields, production and income of rubber farmers. The purpose of this study is to determine the process of empowering farmer groups and explain the socio-economic conditions of rubber farmer groups in Suspension Bridge Village. The research method used is qualitative descriptive with data collection techniques through observation, interviews and study documents. This research uses empowerment theory from Nainggolang. . The results of this study are that there are 7 empowerment processes carried out by BUMD, the first is the preparation stage, the study stage, the program or activity planning stage, the action plan fomalization stage, the program or activity implementation stage, the evaluation stage and the termination stage. The socioeconomic condition of the farmer group has several indicators, namely Employment, Prestige (ability), Family, Organization (social status), Work and income, Education, Expenditure and Asset ownership.
